Comedy Stars to Perform in Honor of George Carlin

The late George Carlin will be honored by fellow comedians including Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and Margaret Cho when he posthumously receives the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the Associated Press reports.

The prize, announced just before Carlin's death in June, will be awarded during a tribute performance November 10 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. The program will be aired later on PBS stations.

Others set to honor the comedy icon at the event include Garry Shandling, Lily Tomlin, Denis Leary, Joan Rivers, Lewis Black and Richard Belzer.

Last year's winner was Billy Crystal and past recipients include Steve Martin, Neil Simon, Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters, Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg.
