Katie Couric Lands Interview With Sarah Palin

CBS news anchor Katie Couric will spend two days traveling on the campaign trail with Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin this month, and interview segments will air on the network beginning September 29.

"CBS Evening News With Katie Couric" will air the first interview segment, followed by additional portions on September 30 on "The Early Show" and CBSNews.com, a press release said.

Coverage of Couric's travels and interview with Palin will include behind-the-scenes access to the VP nominee, as well as her presidential running mate John McCain, CBS said.

The interview will take place just days before a vice presidential debate between Palin and the Democratic VP candidate, Delaware Senator Joe Biden, to be held in St. Louis on October 2.

The news of Couric's interview follows Palin's appearance on ABC news after anchor Charles Gibson secured the first major network interview with the VP candidate.
